Senior software reliability engineer

What you’ll do

As a Software Reliability Engineer, you will contribute your experience in ensuring ever-growing reliability, maturity & performance of our software, analyzing and troubleshooting complex bug reports, diving in challenging high-tech C-code, yet taking courageously the challenge to find and solve the issue/limitation in it. We need to achieve good performance on low-end devices with few resources (CPE) and at the same time we also need to achieve stunning performances in powerful systems (aggregation server in the IP backbone).

You will be part of the Operations department, although tightly working with R&D, with contributions to R&D developments (DevOps culture). You will be in direct contact with our customers, and will impress them by showing what the value of Excellence means at Tessares.

Given your constant contact with the field, your contributions will have important and immediately visible impact. As such, you will have a sense of the business value of your actions, always seeking risk reduction, fastest possible path to field and absence of regressions.

In that mission, Tessares will help you with the following assets :

• The team: As part of the Operations team, you will participate in a continuous feedback loop (peer reviewing, Agile Kanban approach, etc.)
• The experience: You will work in close interaction with major contributors to the Multipath TCP protocol and implementation. But not only that. You will be invited to contribute and be active in the opensource community, with potential to make your talent visible even outside the company.
• The ecosystem : You will be in contact with many operators and CPE vendors, with great opportunities for learning and get vision on the global picture.

Useful knowledge you have

We all need to be fluent in English, both written and spoken. For embedded software development, we currently use the C programming language and closely interact with the Linux kernel. For this reason it will be great if you have kernel programming experience, or have no fear to dive into the kernel. Moreover, as we modify the networking function of the gateway, it would be good that you master TCP/IP protocols. You will also interact with other engineers from gateway and chipset vendors in order to integrate our solution into their boxes.
